About
Independent deep hole drilling resource — written by an engineer, for engineers
Hello, I'm Alex.
I've spent over 15 years working with deep hole drilling. Not as a journalist covering the industry — as an engineer on the shop floor, solving real problems.
I started my career at a precision machining shop, running BTA and gun drilling machines. Over the years I worked my way into process engineering, helping manufacturers across automotive, aerospace, mold & die, and medical devices get deep holes right.
What This Site Is
This site is where I share what I've learned. Not textbook definitions or marketing fluff — actual experience from actual jobs.
- How to choose between BTA and gun drilling when both seem to fit
- What to check when your holes keep coming up oversize
- Which parameters actually work for titanium vs. which ones just sound good on paper
- How to set up coolant pressure so you don't break tools at 100 diameters deep
What This Site Isn't
I don't sell machines, tools, or coolant. I don't represent any brand. Everything here is my independent take, based on what I've seen work (and fail) in production.
Need Help With a Specific Application?
If you're working through a deep hole drilling challenge and need a second opinion, reach out through the contact page. I offer technical consulting and equipment selection guidance.
